City of Pearland opposes Landfill expansion

City of Pearland Council members last night adopted a resolution (R2006-209A) in opposition to the expansion of the Blue Ridge Landfill.  City of Pearland will request to take the position of an "affected party" status to TCEQ.

CABRLE Committee members unanimously agreed at the 11/21/06 meeting to hire Environmental Attorney Richard Morrison.

Expansion Information

The Blue Ridge Landfill TX,LP operated by Allied Waste/BFI filed a Landfill Permit Amendment Application (MSW-1505A) with the TX Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) on 1/25/06 to expand the existing landfill as follows: from 302 waste footprint acres to 784, from 599 permit boundary acres to 1345, from 58 feet max height to 170 max height, from a 13 year life to 40 years.  THIS WILL BE HUGE!!!  The permit application is at the Missouri City library for public review.
